Honestly, how can one fail to be amused by the idea of Lady Catherine de Bourgh running afoul of a passing coach, in her haste to cross the street and chastise a poor unsuspecting couple for their conduct Can I get an amen Lest you think me too unkind in my amusement, be assured that no prestigious personages were fatally harmed in the making of this sequel and the resulting injury to her illustrious person leaves her bedridden only long enough for her daughter, Anne, to have a chance to take Honestly, how can one fail to be amused by the idea of Lady Catherine de Bourgh running afoul of a passing coach, in her haste to cross the street and chastise a poor unsuspecting couple for their conduct Can I get an amen Lest you think me too unkind in my amusement, be assured that no prestigious personages were fatally harmed in the making of this sequel and the resulting injury to her illustrious person leaves her bedridden only long enough for her daughter, Anne, to have a chance to take in Bath and form new friendships and prospective romantic attachments without her mother s overbearing presence at every turn But, you may well ask, was Anne not terribly sickly and, therefore, unable to partake in the pleasures of socializing Alternately, you may also be asking Why would the horse not have naturally shied away from Lady Catherine s overpowering disapproval, thus avoiding the collision To these imagined inquiries, I will say only that one of these questions will be dealt with in the pages of the book, while the second must remain a mystery Be assured on this point, however Mr Collins is in obsequious attendance once notified of theerunhappy accident and, as expected, cannot fail to be ridiculous in the most commonplace of circumstances This is a short, but delightful, story

I love reading Pride Prejudice spin offs, so I knew Miss De Bourgh s Adventure was one I would want to read I did very much enjoy the story, but for a novella it was slow read I expected to be able to read it a couple hours, but it wound up taking me a whole lot longer It was interesting to finally see how Anne would behave without her overpowering mother by her side The ending was predictable but nonetheless enjoyable.I would recommend this book to fans of Jane Austen I love reading Pride Prejudice spin offs, so I knew Miss De Bourgh s Adventure was one I would want to read I did very much enjoy the story, but for a novella it was slow read I expected to be able to read it a couple hours, but it wound up taking me a whole lot longer It was interesting to finally see how Anne would behave without her overpowering mother by her side The ending was predictable but nonetheless enjoyable.I would recommend this book to fans of Jane Austen
