Another amazing book from Paul to Timothy So much wisdom, instruction, and comfort packed into this short book Always edifying to read I hope to go through this book with my young adult Bible study group at some point 5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also 6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands 7 For God h Another amazing book from Paul to Timothy So much wisdom, instruction, and comfort packed into this short book Always edifying to read I hope to go through this book with my young adult Bible study group at some point 5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also 6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1 5 7 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. 2 Timothy 2 24 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3 16 17 2 Preach the word Be ready in season and out of season Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 2 Timothy 4 2 5

I thank God that He has drawn me to love his wordthan ever before I am finding a richness in these epistles that has grown since my first reading of them 20 years ago, and I fervently pray my love for the Word would continue to increase throughout my life As Jesus said, these words are spirit, and they are life, and what an abundant life they are This letter could be a letter any godly man might write his beloved son when he knew his time on earth was coming to an end Paul leaves Timoth I thank God that He has drawn me to love his wordthan ever before I am finding a richness in these epistles that has grown since my first reading of them 20 years ago, and I fervently pray my love for the Word would continue to increase throughout my life As Jesus said, these words are spirit, and they are life, and what an abundant life they are This letter could be a letter any godly man might write his beloved son when he knew his time on earth was coming to an end Paul leaves Timothy with reminders of his great love for him, reminders that he prays for him regularly, and last instructions on how to be effective in this world, how to withstand temptations to worldliness, and to cling to truth. What is also obvious is Paul s continuing commitment to rescue the gospel from man s deep seated and pervasive tendency to add human effort to God s work of salvation It seems we will never stop needing repeated reminders that God has saved us, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began Reading this letter, it is hard not to believe that we are in the end times that Paul spoke of, times when people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power And the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths Could Paul have imagined the age of the selfie Could he have imagined have your best life now preached in a church And yet it soundslike he wrote this after reading today s newspapers than that he wrote 2,000 years ago But I thank God that He inspired Paul to write this 2,000 years ago, and that He has preserved it for us to learn from today

Some say that 2 Timothy is Paul s last will and testament But rather it focuses on encouraging Timothy, a timid yet gifted pastor Paul wants him to live out his sacred calling in the power of the Spirit He wants him to make a strong commitment to the Gospel s truth and continue to preach it.

I was struck very hard by some contradictions and so I sought out some research and found that many transcriptions over many years have led to a lot of words being changed, altered, or flat out added in later.Regardless, I still feel the Bible is worth reading and studying and asking God about.I liked what was said here about Judgement Day It makes me further cement in the idea that those in heaven are sort of waiting for the final day s to happen.

2 Timothy Review 2 Timothy was another great book of the Bible In few words it said a lot I think 2 Timothy showed us God s love and had some good advice It also talked about about how most people will act in the end times and that we shouldn t be like them This was a great book that I took a lot from and I think everyone should read it I give 2 Timothy 5 5 stars.
