Of course I like all of Elizabeth Cadell's books but this was not one of her most stellar Actually it was a deviation from how she writes most of her books At times I would believe it was written by someone else

Angus Graham is a young man who was invalided out of the navy two years before the books starts He is taking a temporary job as a courier for a high end bus company His tour is a sad farewell to Europe because since he can't find a job in England he has accepted one in Canada It was a bit hard to understand why he hasn't been able to find an acceptable position in Europe The mood lightens as the tour bus loads up Angus's charges includes a crew of delightful eccentrics that only Cadell could throw together A retired admiral and his widowed sister who claims to be psychic a Lord his secretary a young man and his daughter who happened to be the father and sister of an old naval chum of Angus a wealthy German couple the Frau of which starts a silent war with the Admiral's sister over how women of a certain age should dress an immature young man from a wealthy family he's a handful a well off American of about 40 who asks to be introduced it is the fifties to the final passengeran English spinster in her late 30s who early on gets some terrible newsMs Cadell's trademark humor is not as prevalent as in other books but the mystery is very well done I had no idea what was going on but in true Cadell manner all ends well for everyone

Another Cadell that didn't uite knock me out like they usually do Perhaps I've been reading too many of them? It was an enjoyable book but was also easy to put down Angus Graham takes a short term job as a courier for a busload of wealthy people bound for Lisbon The bus is the Green Empresspart of a fleet of super comfortable coaches for small groups He thinks it will be an easy job but everything begins to go wrong and he can't figure out the connection between all the 'incidents' Also Lord Lorrimer has brought his daughter Angela along and she professes that she has always loved Angus which makes his head swim Nearly all the passengers on the bus end up being involved in one way or another
