In the past I have enjoyed sharing Bible related books from Juliet David but this is a fun little book The perfect suare size to sit on our shelves next to our treasuries like Biscuit Marley Lyle Fancy Nancy and others this book of 99 Stories from the Bible is attractive to the eye and already my children pick it up by choice The illustrations are vivid and brilliant and help to tell a good story Overall this is a happy version of Bible stories as most of the scary or sad stories are left out although the crucifixion is shown It is a good introduction from Candle Books for the youngest generation to start a firm foundation of faith in the Bible I received this product free for the purpose of reviewing it I received no other compensation for this review The opinions expressed in this review are my personal honest opinions Your experience may vary Please read my full disclosure policy for details posted

99 Stories from the Bible is a beautiful children's Bible story book Juliet David has re told each Bible story in short one or two page stories geared for young children It is perfect for children ages 2 7 The illustrations by Elina Ellis are colorful and engaging Each story has full color illustrations many with double page spreads to capture their interest and hold their focus while you read aloud to them I love the cartoon style that Elina Ellis uses for her people My favorite portion of this book is the New Testament section The book is pretty evenly divided between the Old and New Testaments There are 107 pages of Old Testament stories and 90 pages of New Testament stories from the gospel I love that it puts so much emphasis on Jesus' life teachings miracles death and resurrection Unlike many children's story Bibles this one does not skip over the crucifixion or resurrection It does a wonderful job of talking about Jesus' arrest crucifixion and resurrection without being too ugly for young children 99 Stories From the Bible also presents a literal 7 day Creation instead of trying to be vague to leave room for those who view it as of an allegory than literal truthThe book itself is a hardcover book which is a good size for little ones to hold It's about an 85 inch suare size and about 34 inch thick The pages are a nice weight not easily ripped or bent There is a presentation page at the front of the book that makes it perfect for giving as a gift at a baby shower baby dedication or for a birthday Easter or ChristmasMy 3 and 5 year old enjoy hearing the Bible stories from 99 Stories From The Bible and we've also used it with 4 and 5 year old kids in our Sunday School class My 7 year old has enjoyed reading the stories to herself and aloud to her younger siblings as she practices her reading skills It's a great book and I give it 5 stars Disclosure of Material Connection I received one or of the products or services mentioned above for free from Kregel Publications in the hope that I would mention it on my blog Regardless I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255 Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising

35 starsAs with most Bible summary books for children there are some in here that I liked and some not so much I'd say the stories in here are probably best for 2 4 year olds They are super summarized from the originals As is many of them lack important details in my opinion The summaries DO provide a great starting point for discussion though Despite my examples of some I didn't like I DID like many of them An example of one I didn't overly like The summary of Day 6 of CreationAll sorts of animals On day six God said 'Let there be living things on land too' So he created dogs horses and camels; lions lizards and snails; worms wombats and warthogsI'd prefer to add when reading that God created ALL animalsEVERYTHING to ensure that there is no confusion My children have a pretty good grasp on that as I'm sure all children who have been taught about God do too But if this book is a child's first lesson in the Bible there could be confusionI know I'm being a bit picky there Then there's the story of Ruth and Naomi AND the story of Esther There's all kinds of information left out of those stories To be fair though they are tough stories to summarize for a child As is though it's impossible to grasp the beauty of those stories within this book Also there was some information within the stories that was wrong Those are stories I'll either skip or reword to be correct An example In the summary of The Ten Commandments the author wrote that God told Moses to write down the ten commandments on stone In truth God wrote the commandments on the stoneExodus 2412 Exodus 3118 So you'll have to be careful with this book as with most all man written Bible summaries As always in relation to Kregel's children's books the pictures are adorable They're bright and I will enjoy using them as visuals during Bible study time with my little ones We have lots of cute options for Bible time on our shelves thanks to Kregel Overall this is a cute book but needs some added details I feel were left out some extra explanations and some wrong information changed I liked many of the summaries though Thank you to Kregel Publications for providing me with a review copy in exchange for my honest opinion

99 Stories from the BibleBy Juliet David; illustrated by Elina EllisI am always on looking for uality children’s Bible Story books Not only for my grandchildren and to use in church nursery but also I think they are one of the best baby gifts you can give There are many ualities I look for in a book and this has all of them and a few extraOne is well made and sturdy to hold up to little hands touching and handling not only for the present but for years to come Some of my children’s Bible story books were passed down to their children 99 stories from the Bible is both It is a well made book and a good valueSecondly for the book to be enjoyed and hold the child’s attention it has to be very colorful with uality illustrations This book also checks both of those boxes The characters are not only cute but entertaining Their bulbous noses and tiny eyes are different than most illustrations in this type of book and bring a fun factor into the pictures Most Bible story books have just a few stories but I was impressed this one had 99 Even though it contained so many it was not big and cumbersome The Old and New Testament stories are just one to two pages each just enough for little minds to grasp While the stories may be short they do an excellent job to sharing the very basic facts of the biblical accounts While this is for preschool age children as they grow older it would be a wonderful learning to read Bible story book for the beginning reader How proud they would be at their accomplishment and it would be yet another way to instill God’s Word in their hearts This would be a great baby gift one for grandparents too birthday gift and to keep in the church nursery I received this book free from the publisher Kregel Publishers I was not reuired to write a positive review The opinions I have expressed are my own

This is a colorful easy to read storybook for children that features some of the better known Bible stories There are a lot of full pages of artwork and each story is about one page but in very large print It would be fine to either read aloud or for a young reader to start out withHowever I have a problem with some of the stories I understand that they are very simplified and don't get into the sin and violence so important points are left out That I could probably overlook I do have a problem when something seems changed from the truth of the Bible and I found that in a few of the stories This book says Moses wrote down the Ten Commandments on stone when it was God who did It looks like Samuel picked Saul to be king because he looked like a king rather than because God had told Samuel the previous day that he was sending him It also seems like a very important part is left out of Joseph's story that he forgave his brothers for selling him Aaron is also left out of the story of Moses asking Pharaoh to let his people go I felt Ruth's story was unclear because it's never mentioned that she is a widow too just that she is Naomi's son's wife It's also mentioned that Boaz thought Ruth was beautiful which isn't said in the Bible and that's the reason he helped her instead of the fact that he admired her for taking care of Naomi Some of these might be minor issues but there's no reason they needed to be changed from the Biblical account I think it sets a bad precedence if a child reads the story one way and then sees the Bible say something else later The Bible's truth shouldn't be uestioned or changed for any reason I'd have to say I was pretty disappointed with this bookI received a free copy of this book from Kregel Publications in exchange for an honest review

When I pick up a book designed for a young child the first thing that I inspect is the size heft and art work A child should be able to hold the book themselves and it should not be too heavy for their young hands and arms to comfortably hold The art should be engaging and appealing to the young child and this is the way I see the illustrations of Elina Ellis When I received 99 Stories From the Bible I saw immediately that the children for which it is written will be able to comfortably hold and carry around this sweet book The art work is soft will pastel colors dominating The illustrations are detailed without being so complex that a young child can not try to copy with hisher own crayons The stories each cover a two page spread and are short and concise hitting the primary point in the story The type set is large enough for a young reader to be able to read to younger siblings This will make a very nice addition to the home library for those night time read aloud story times The language used in the stories is appropriate for conveying to the young child the main point of the story Study hardcover binding with thick pages will enhance the life of this bookAuthor Juliet David has written many children’s stories and Bible activity books Her other interests include painting music and travel to Israel and other Bible lands This experienced author lives in London with her familyDISCLOSURE I received a complimentary copy of 99 Stories From the Bible from Kregel in exchange for an honest review which I have done Opinions expressed are solely my own No compensation was received for this review

I have had a fascination with Bible story books since I was a child Remember the gigantic storybooks on the table in the waiting room of every doctor's office? I always gravitated towards them and even today I always find myself looking for them when I have an appointment The stories and illustrations fed my six year old mind then and still draw me in today 99 Stories from the Bible contains Bible stories from the Creation to Jesus' return and everything in between The stories are told in a way that's very easy to understand and your child will have fun while learning important facts from the Bible It's compact in size compared to the usual ones I see and that makes for easier handling which is a plus in my book It has a presentation page and full page illustrations It's illustrated by Elina Ellis and I have to say her illustrations are amazing They are so colorful and life like and they will certainly draw your child into the story If you would like to teach your child andor children the Bible this would be an easy and effective way to do it This will be an excellent addition to any child's library and it will also make a great gift I recommend it to anyone with young children who would like to teach them Bible facts in a fun filled wayDisclaimer I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for my honest review The opinions stated are mine alone and are honest and forthright If I recommend a book you can believe its a book I would read for myself I received no monetary compensation for this review

I have tried a lot of different kids Bible story books and 99 Stories from the Bible so far has been a favorite for both myself and my kidsI think what sets it apart is it’s beautiful illustrations by Elina Ellis that have cartoon appeal for my kids They are Biblically accurate but designed to draw the eye of the very young With bright vibrant colors and the characters drawn in ways little ones can relate to; these are some of the best illustrations I’ve seenThe ’99 Stories’ part of the title is slightly mis leading because while there are 99 titles they are not all different stories For example it begins with the story of creation which to me I think of as one story but it is broken down into 7 stories for the 7 days of creation Most stories are told through several titles so there’s not actually 99 different storiesThe thing that I like about this is if you want to do a uick bedtime story your kids will be convinced that these one paged stories was a whole story You can read as few or as many as you like the way it’s broken down In fact my kids liked this book so much we read probably a third of it all at once in the first sitting99 Stories from the Bible is perfectly written and illustrated for children my kids ages around 4 and 5 I’m sure your kids will love this one too

This week I had the privilege of reading and reviewing 99 Stories from the Bible by Juliet David and illustrated by Elina EllisThe book begins with Creation and ends with Jesus dying on the cross and ascending into Heaven and includes 97 other stories in between Between the Table of Contents and Stories the book is 192 pages and includes a hardcoverI found the stories to be short and easy to understand perfect for little ones My two year old loved it and was able to sit through multiple stories She loved pointing out the colorful illustrations and telling me what they wereI especially was happy with the way the author and illustrator depicted Jesus' crucifixion I know that sometimes it seems like a scary subject when teaching young ones 5 and under but I feel that the story was very tasteful and leaves room to teach the child as they grow older when they are at an age where they can understand I think this is an excellent Bible Storybook to use for bedtime stories preschool lessons or even Sunday school lessons I would recommend it for ages 2 6 but definitely not limited to those ages This book has uickly become a favorite for our 2 year old and I anticipate using it uite a lot in the near future I rate it as 5 starsI received this book for free from Kregel Publications in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion
