Lord of Devil Isle35 StarsKnown as the “Lord of Devil Isle” Nicholas Scott is a skilled ship’s captain and a notorious womanizer So when he pulls Eve Upshall from the waves he naturally assumes she will be his latest conuest Eve however has other ideas on the matter A sweet and steamy read although it did lose some momentum at the end Eve and Nick have incredible chemistry and their banter is a highlight of the book Eve certainly knows how to handle herself both verbally and physically Thankfully there are no ridiculous misunderstandings or silly secrets and the obstacles to their relationship come in the form of their own mutual stubbornness The resolution is where the weakness lies as if the authors had difficulty wrapping the story up The inclusion of the view spoilergunpowder heist hide spoiler

I would have given this book 4 12 stars if possible The only problem I had with it issome of the writing andor dialogue seemed a little too modern at times I love a heroine who is tough and a survivor but yet still feminine Eve was hilarious at times swore like a sailor and could get physical and she had an attraction to Nick without falling immediately in love with him Nick was likeable as a hero as well sometimes you wanted to shake him but that's par for the courseI have to say this book had the best marriage proposal I won't say any to ruin it for you but I loved itD

The book started out really promising Nicolas is delicious But the book has one major failing poor plots The story jumps around and has very little substance Most of the time I didn't know where the story was going Irrelevant bits and pieces put together there you have this book I actually liked Nicolas and Eve together but they were not blessed with a strong story so their characters suffered Eve's waiting for Nicolas to propose also got on my nerves Guy won't marry you and you won't be his mistress so walk away already Either stay without false hopes or go staying out and hoping desperately for a marriage proposal is pathetic I didn't appreciate that

Thoroughly enjoyable read The hero and heroine were believable meaning they had faults as well as strong and admirable traits Worth the time in my opinion And as always a happy tension filled ending

Stars 45Overall This was a wonderful and thrilling adventure I really loved Eve's character right from the beginning because she was strong and didn't seem like the whiny Nick's character i just didn't care from until start until end He was just rude crude and uncaring It wasn't until the end of the book for me to really get and like his character The only part that really bothered me was the ending Wtf ; I felt like things were just cut off I really wanted to see Rathburn get a better beating at the end I kind of felt that he got off too easy Than Miss Munroe just got married and we never heard anything about her again So for myself i just wish there was so details to the story to really make it complete Characters Nick EvePage Turner YesSeries Cont I wishRecommend YES

I can't recall the last time I read a historical romance This was a nice return to that genre The story read uickly and kept me interested from the first page The heroine wasn't annoying and the hero wasn't too much of a jerk There was no great conflict but the book is a good one If you're looking for a nice historical that is a mindless read then this is the one for you

THIS STARTED OFF LIKE ANY AVERAGE PIRATEPRIVATEER STORY BUT IT HAD THE ELEMENTS OF A GOOD ROMANCE AN ISLAND SETTING A COCKY HERO PASSIONATE SEX AND MILD ANGSTNICHOLAS is the Lord of Devil Isle he's basically the man who runs the island where he smuggles and deals with shipments to ensure there's a steady flow of food supply necessities etc The story opens up with him fucking his mistress yes he's a man with a steady appetite and you'll find he fits the manwhore attitude cocksure a little arrogant and never wanting to fall in love again In his case Nicholas was married once until his wife cuckolded him with another man probably feeling lonely when he's always out at sea and she died giving birth to someone else's son Nicholas has his own set of issues but his wife's betrayal made him close off his heart and he doesn't want to be that vulnerable again One night his first mate interrupts his fucking session to inform him that they've encountered a particular ship that he's been on the lookout for only to return with three drowning ladies instead Taking them back to his island Nicholas works to get Eve to become his new mistress and I will say I didn't uite like how he jumped from woman to woman so uickly I'm only glad Eve gave him a run for money when she refuses his advances and even when she succumbs she still has her dignity and won't become anything less than his wife EVE is a wrongly accused young woman who endured a traumatic time when she was sent to prison for public lewdness For that she has been thoroughly whipped on the back and there are just some things an innocent woman shouldn't have to experience While the scars on her back are fresh the ones in her heart isn't I found that part of her story intriguing adding a layer of vulnerability and humanity to her rather stiff and rigid attitude I guess she's just protecting herself from being hurt and trusting the wrong people On the way to marry their husbands in the Colonies their ship somehow caught fire and she ended up in the water with two other females Thankfully they were rescued but Eve isn't sure being rescued by a promiscuous captain is a blessing or punishment The only thing I didn't uite buy about Eve is how uickly she fell for Nicholas without knowing him very well He was merely often plying her with doses of sexual innuendos and of course seduction and how easily she fell in love That part stank a littleOVERALL it was a rather engaging story and the best part is how even after experiencing passion and sex Eve dragged on the angst by withholding from Nicholas what he wants I do so love the pain that they both feel from not being able to have what they want In another light this story isn't something new to HR readers It's uite a common troupe but nevertheless it was interesting and fun to read
